Night chill intensifies, Srinagar records coldest night, Leh freezes at minus 5.5

Chilly weather conditions have intensified in Kashmir, as the mercury dropped further and settled at several degrees below normal owing to clear skies.

The summer capital, Srinagar, recorded the coldest night of the season where the mercury settled at 3.5 degrees Celsius which is 1.6 degrees below normal.

 

Kashmir Weather, independent weather forecaster, has predicted that weather will remain mainly dry during the next four days which could result in further dip in the night temperature.

The night temperature in Leh settled at a low of minus 5.5 degrees Celsius while Dras witnessed an improvement of about 0.8 degrees and the mercury settled there at a low of minus 4.1 degrees Celsius.

The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg recorded a low 5.0 degrees Celsius which is 2.9 degrees above normal.

Pahalgam & Qazigund recorded minimum night temperatures of 0.8°C & 3.7°C respectively.

Kupwara in north Kashmir and tourist resort of Kukernag recorded a low of 2.4°C, 6.4°C respectively
