The devastating fire broke out in the woods on higher reaches has been controlled in Paddar area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources here on Friday told UNI that the fire broke out around three days back in the forest area on the higher reaches.
“The spot was on upper reaches of the hills so fire tenders could not be pressed into service but teams of forest department, local police, VDC members, civilians helped in controlling the fire,” they said.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajinder Singh Tara said, “The fire is almost extinguished and is under control.”
Different teams are on job and it will be doused soon, adding, “the timely action has prevented the fire from spreading.”
Meanwhile, the videos and pictures of forest fire also went viral on social media inviting immediate attention of the concerned authorities for prompt action.
