A young journalist of Srinagar based English daily “ Rising Kashmir” died on Thursday in the north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
Correspondent Javid Ahmad was on way to Srinagar from Watergam Rafiabad, Baramulla when he suffered a massive heart attack at Pattan.
He was immediately rushed to local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
A number of media organizations have expressed shock over the demise of Javid.
Principal Secretary power and information Rohit Kansal and leaders of several political parties and media organizations have expressed shock over the demise of journalist Javid Ahmad of a local English daily due to heart attack on Srinagar-Baramulla road Thursday afternoon.
Mr Kansal, who is also spokespersons of the government, taking to micro blogging site twitter said “ Tragic and Shocking. Such a young and promising professional snatched away in his prime. Our sincere condolences. May God grant eternal peace to his soul and grant his family the fortitude to bear such a huge loss .
National Conference (NC) spokesman Imran Nabi Dar also condoled the demise of Javid and described it a great loss.
Apni Party (AP) President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari also expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of Javid of a massive heart attack.
In a condolence message issued here, Bukhari expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, Rising Kashmir management and its editorial staffand prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. “I am shocked beyond words. The death of a young journalist is not an irreparable loss for the family or the press and media house in which he worked but for the society as a whole,” Bukhari observed.
He said that journalists are a valuable asset for any democratic society and loss of any journalist is an irretrievable loss for the people. “May Javid find a place in Jannat and his loved ones find strength at this difficult time. I pray to Almighty Allah to give courage to the bereaved family, relatives, his colleagues in Rising Kashmir and friends in the media in particular to bear this huge loss,” Bukhari said in his condolence message.
