Former Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today called upon Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of J&K, alongwith a deputation of Dharap area.
During his meeting with the Advisor Randhawa raised the issue of washing away of bridge which was constructed just 11 years ago. He apprised the Advisor that the bridge was constructed just 11 years ago when the corruption was rampant in the system which uprooted this bridge.
He said that following rampant corruption during the tenure of previous regimes the projects were completed using sub-standard material resulting which most of them have either collapsed or on the verge of collapse. He urged upon the Advisor to conduct a thorough probe into the bridge collapse incident and book all those responsible for causing this loss. He said that apart from inconvenience to the local populace of the area the collapse of the bridge has caused huge loss to the exchequer.
Randhawa further urged upon the Advisor to construct a new bridge as the area has got disconnected and the locals have to travel several kilometers to reach their destinations in Jammu city and back home. He said that presently the schools and colleges are shut following lockdown but once they will resume normal functioning it will be difficult for students to reach their respective institutions well in time. He submitted a memorandum to the Advisor demanding early construction of the bridge and a probe into its collapse.
Advisor Bhatnagar gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured early redressal to the demand putforth.
