Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today convened a meeting to review the position of winter stocking and supply of essential commodities in frontier and far-flung areas of Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Simrandeep Singh and Director FCS&CA Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad while Director FCS&CA Jammu, Jatinder Singh; MD RTC, Angrez Singh and other concerned participated through video conferencing.
Secretary FCS&CA briefed about the stock supply of essentials and the arrangements being made for lifting and dispatching the essential commodities to winter areas of Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
Advisor directed the concerned officers to ensure adequate stock of food-grains, fuel and other related things is stocked at FCS&CA stores wherever required. He also asked the FCS&CA authorities to ensure proper supply position of essentials so that people don’t face any inconvenience during harsh winter season.
Regarding stock of food-grains in Kashmir Division, Director FCS&CA Kashmir informed that the process of lifting of essential commodities has already been started and will be completed in next two weeks. Besides, 88699 liters of kerosene has been dispatched to Gurez area of Bandipora district while 22690.36 quintal of rice and 3815 quintal of Atta/wheat has also been dispatched to the area.
The supply position of Kerosene in Karnah, Machil, and Keran areas of Kupwara district was also reviewed and it was informed that 6000 cylinders have been stocked at Karnah, Machil Keran while 8000 cylinders have been dispatched for Gurez area.
Similarly, 55848 quintal of rice, 10047 quintal of Atta and Wheat and 8000 liter of K-Oil has been dispatched to Kupwara border areas.
Regarding Jammu division, it was given out that 50 to 60 per cent of stock supply has been lifted and dispatched to different winter stations.
The meeting also discussed RTC tendering process regarding hiring of buses and trucks of the Corporation for supplying food grains to different areas of J&K.
The Advisor issued instructions for taking necessary action to ensure hassle-free supplies into the area.
