Ashok Kumar Former Legislature from Rambanwhileinteracting with the people on a extensive tour in several remote and far flung villages in his constituency, questioned BJP Government at Centre for slow progress incompletion of PMGSY roads  in  villages of Ramban Constituency and strongly urged upon the Lieutenant Governor (J&K) to direct the concerned authorities to immediately repair and black topping the Maitra-Balawat(PMGSY) link road along with proper drains as patients, pregnant women, students and daily commuters are suffering badly due to dilapidated condition of PMGSY road from the last 5 years. Government of Jammu and Kashmir under PMGSY department has spent Rs. 578.47 lacs as the allotted cost for its construction despite that the road is not safe even for light vehicles up to BalawatBalawat.

In a statement issued here, “ he said there is a protract delay in the process of black topping and drain work. It has been delayed from the last 6 years and its very unfortunate that Centre, J&K government and concerned higher authorities are not taking any interest for the development of this PMGSY link road and delaying its work without any reason. He demanded that black topping with drain work should be started immediately so that the people belonging to region may not suffer more”. In addition, he stressed upon the concerned authorities to provide agriculture and fruit trees compensation under PMGSY road which is pending from last 8 years of 65 families  is indeed a great injustice to the people of Ballawat.

It is great injustice to the people inhabited in remote hilly tracts of Jammu and Kashmir who have been connected to the only link road.

Ashok has further said that theMaitra-Balawat link road from First km to 7thKm under R&B (PWD) has been damaged due to ignorance by concerned authorities and are without black topping and drains which creates damage to the road already constructed which further creates the loss to the government funds and menace for the local commuters.

Ashok has demanded that Chief Engineer R&B (PWD) should take immediate steps for releasing requisite funds and giving direction to all the concerned authorities of Ramban division for immediate repair, black topping and drain of Maitra-Balawat link load.

Ashok has also demanded that Maitra-Balawat road should be extended up to Kriyavillage Inhabited by schedule tribes. He also stressed upon one tourist circular road which connects Sanasar to Shankpaldevta to SurniKund to Bhattan and Shankpaldevtato Maitra (Ramban) via Kriya village. All above mention places can play a significant role in terms of building a tourist attraction particularly in Jammu Division.
