Jammu-Srinagar National Highway reopens after four days

The Jammu-Srinagar national highway reopened for traffic on Saturday after remaining closed for four days due to landslides and shooting stones triggered by heavy rains, officials said.

DSP Traffic, National Highway Ramban, Ajay Anand said the debris on Dalwas side was cleared at 11 am and stranded traffic was allowed to move first.

A portion of the highway had caved in at Dalwas on Tuesday following which traffic movement was suspended on the arterial road that connects Kashmir with Jammu.

Thousands of Kashmir-bound trucks were also left stranded in Jammu and Udhampur for days after the highway got closed.
