Absorb employees of JAKFED in other deptts: Randhawa urges LG

A delegation of aggrieved employees of Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (JAKFED) today called upon former Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa.

During the interaction the delegation informed former MLC that the SAC headed by the then Governor or erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Paul Malik vide its decision No-133/15/2019 dated 13-06-2019 ordered to wind up the 60-year-old organization with a promise that the jobs of its employees would be protected. They informed Randhawa that some employees have been absorbed in other departments but still 77 employees are regularly attending their office and are not paid since last one year.

Randhawa gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that their demand would be put up before the concerning authorities for early redressal. He urged upon the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to order a probe how JAKFED suffered losses. He said that the decision to wind it up was taken after it turned a loss-making organization but those responsible for this mess were allowed to roam free. They should be punished, Randhawa demanded. He said that JAKFED’s major activities, included procurement and distribution of fertilisers, building material, LPG gas supply etc. which was all profit-making substances.  The Federation initially made profits, but plunged into losses after a few years due to malpractices by its management which needs to be booked and punished, he added.

He also urged upon the Lt Guv to order immediate release of the salaries of all these employees who have not been paid since last one year. He said that their families and the studies of their siblings is badly sufferings following financial crisis which needs to be addressed immediately.

He further urged upon the Lt Guv to absorb all these employees into other departments to secure their future.
