A youth died due to drowning while taking bath in a water body in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Tuesday, official sources said this evening.
They said a youth identified as Idrees Ahmad Mir (25) was taking bath in Vishu Nallah at Reshnagri in Shopian when he suddenly drowned.
People present in the area immediately jumped into the nallah but could not save him, they said adding the body was later retrieved and handed over to his relatives after completing medical and legal formalities.
Police has registered a case, they added.
