Today Adv. Purnima Sharma conducted Jan Samvad Rally in Jammu East , ward no. 01 in which she enlightened the public regarding the benefits of the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A since the past 1 year and the loss that the residents of J&K had to face because of it since it was added to the Indian Constitution.
Sh. Vinay Gupta(Jammu District President BJP), Sh. Karan Singh (Jammu District Vice President BJP), Sh. Narinder Gupta(koki) (Jammu District Secretary BJP), Sh. Rajinder Gupta (BJP General Secretary Jammu East), Sh. Parveen Kerni (Mandal President BJP) , Sh. Suraj Padha (Mandal Office Secretary), Smt. Shubh Lata Sharma (Mahila Morcha General Secretary Jammu), Smt. Sunita Wazir (Mahila Morcha Vice President Jammu), Sh. Suresh Sir (Mohalla Welfare Committee) and other prominent members were also present during the rally.
Adv. Purnima Sharma while addressing the Jan Samvad Rally informed the residents of the ward that Article 35A of the Indian Constitution empowers the Jammu and Kashmir state legislature to define who are the state’s “Permanent Residents”. It also lets the state legislature decide what special rights and privileges permanent residents will have. The provision added by the Presidential order prohibits non-permanent residents from settling permanently in the state, buying or acquiring immovable property – meaning houses and land. It also prohibits non-permanent residents from getting government jobs, being eligible for scholarships or basically being eligible for any form of aid from the government.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Vinay Gupta said that the unemployment in the state was mainly because of Article 370. As due to this article there are very less industries, which is directly related to employment. This means that because of this provision, people had to migrate to other states in search of jobs. Also the state had become a terrorist prone region because of this Article as the Indian Parliament cannot impose any law in the state without the consent of state Assembly. Due to Article 370, RTE, RTI, CAG and many Indian laws were not applicable in Jammu & Kashmir. The biggest sticking points of this contentious part of the Indian Constitution, as spelled out by the document were that Jammu and Kashmir has its own flag and constitution; President’s Rule cannot be proclaimed in that state — only Governor’s Rule can be imposed and Jammu Kashmir has its own criminal code.
Deputy Mayor further added that there are many advantages of the abrogation of article 370 and 35A like now the J&K UT can prosper economically and socially as now the social amalgamation will reduce the threat of militancy, Jammu and Kashmir can become one of the top tourist destination after complete development and this will further encourage the growth of public and private sector industries in the J&K UT which will lead to the employment of the youth which were unemployed due to existence of this article and also removal of this article has proved to be good diplomacy to deal with Pakistan over territorial disputes.
At the end of the rally, Adv. Purnima Sharma while addressing the general public appealed not to wander out of there houses unnecessarily as COVID-19 cases are still on the rise and only to go out when it’s important and while wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
