Former Deputy Chief Minister and Ex MLA of Gandhi Nagar Constituency, Kavinder Gupta, felicitated meritorious students of 12th Class CBSE Examination 2020.
Appreciating efforts of the students in difficult times of pandemic of COVID-19, Kavinder said Saesha Gupta secured 97 percent, Jasnoor Bakshi got 94.5 percent, Eva Gupta 93 percent, Janvi Gupta 87 percent marks besides Shivansh Gupta and Sohan Gupta performing well in CBSE 12TH Class examination and have made their parents and school proud by achieving top positions in thier stream, adding that girls have proven their intelligence by shinning in every field of life. “It is the duty of the parents to give equal opportunities of studies and growth to the girl child.
He said that the brilliant performance shown by the students is testimony of the talent in the region and all out efforts would be made to nurture and encourage the young talent.
Congratulating parents and the family members, Kavinder Gupta, said dedicated attention by the family, teachers and constant efforts of meritorious students have born fruits.
Kavinder Gupta shared that the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) has revised a chapter in its Class 12 Political Science textbook to remove a portion on separatist politics in Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 by the Union government, which gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kavinder said, while the topic “Separatism and Beyond” has been deleted from the chapter, the abrogation of Article 370 has been included under the topic “Regional Aspirations”.
He said that last year on August 5, the Government of India revoked the special status granted under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir through an amendment in Parliament and also scrapped Article 35 A, and the state was bifurcated into two union territories — Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. He said that NCERT textbooks are used by all schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and several state boards have also adopted these books.
He further said that NCERT has also replaced the old map of Jammu and Kashmir in Class 12 political science textbook from this year.
