Court reject bail of three Punjab based narco smugglers

2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Virender Singh Bhou rejected the bail applications of three Punjab based Narco Smugglers from whom police recovered more than 32 KG poppy straw.

While rejecting bail applications of Amanpreet Singh son of Kashmir Singh resident of village Kandial tehsil Batala Gurdaspur, Hira Singh son of Chhan Singh resident of village Singhwala Gurdaspur and Lovepreet Singh son of Rajbinder Singh resident of village Balagan Gurdaspur-Punjab, 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Virender Singh Bhou after hearing APP DP Singh for the Prosecution observed that ultimate purpose of the Court while interfering the purpose for bail under NDPS Act is not to record an observation of not guilty even at bail stage.

It is for the limited purpose essentially confined to the question of releasing the accused on bail that the court is called upon to see if there are reasonable grounds for believing that the accused is not guilty and records its satisfaction about the existence of such grounds. Undisputedly a huge quantity of contraband has been seized from the possession of the accused persons and the investigation is going on and  grant of bail at this stage would be detrimental to the interest of prosecution and social interest as well. Having regards to the nature of allegation, evidence on record and the menace of drug trafficking, which is spreading the evil of drug addiction in the society, which is spoiling the lives of young boys and girls. With these observations, the Court rejected the bail application. JNF
