11-DAY BABY AMONG 10 LOSE FIGHT TO VIRUS, TOLL REACHES 179

With 10 fresh deaths, including an 11-day-old baby, the Covid toll in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has reached 179.

A total of 357 new cases were reported during the past 24 hours and 84 patients cured and recovered from different hospitals.

 

Reports said an 11-day-old baby and a 75-year-old man from Kulgam district of Kashmir Valley succumbed to Covid-19 here on Sunday, taking the number of fatalities to 179 in J&K.

The newborn is the youngest coronavirus victim in J&K, the officials said. A 15-day-old baby from the Bemina area had died on June 19.

According to the official bulletin issued on Sunday evening, 357 new cases tested positive, 62 from the Jammu division and 295 from the Kashmir division, taking the total number of positive cases in J&K to 10,513

Meanwhile, a 58-year-old man tested positive for coronavirus after his death at a hospital in Jammu.

The critically ill patient, hailing from Simbal Morh, was admitted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital here on Friday. The deceased was suffering from a lung disease and his test for coronavirus came positive several hours after his death. His body was cremated in accordance with the set protocol in the presence of his family members this morning.
