Demands macdamization on all major and link roads
Srinagar 25 June: Senior National Conference Leader and Former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar has expressed concern over the delaying work in widening of vital Pandach-Beehama road saying the works started during his tenure as MLA has not been completed yet.
“The work on four lane Pandach-Beehama road project which connects valley to Ladakh besides is the main route to Amarnath and Khirbhawani started in April 2018 under CRF hasn’t been taken up despite being approved during my tenure as MLA. He said that the progress of the work is very slow. He had urged L.G G C Murmu that all the bottlenecks with this regard may be cleared and the work may be expidited.
He further said that the conditions of the roads in Ganderbal district are currently in a pathetic and dilapidated condition. This has resulted in grave inconvenience to the general public at large. Many incidents have taken place in the past, when motorbike and scooter riders have lost balance due to potholes.
Jabbar said that all interior roads are also in a pitiable condition and dust flying on roads adversely affects the health of the common masses.
Ishfaq said that the time period for macadamisation and blacktopping of roads in Kashmir is short as compared to other places.
He said that despite the availability of budget under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Construction of majority of the roads under this scheme has not been started.
Ishfaq Jabbar has demanded immediate macdamization of roads from Barsoo to Safapora. He also demanded macdamization of inner roads which include Watalbagh-Theeru, Kurag-Sehpora, Tullamulla- Sehpora, Benhama forest college, main road nagbal to Jamia Masjid, inner links of Wutlar and other link roads of the district besides ensuring road safety measures
