MAYOR INSPECTS VARIOUS DEVELOPMENT WORKS

 Continuing the drive to provide better development & civic amenities to the people of Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor alongwith Advocate Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor JMC conducted an extensive tour of the areas of kalka Colony Bahu Fort Jammu. Smt Sharda Kumari councilor of ward no.47, Sh Sham Lal Councilor of ward no.48, Sh Vinay Gupta Jammu Distt President of BJP, Sh Neeraj (Lucky) Puri BJP Gandhi Nagar Mandal president and also councilor of ward no.54, prominent residents of ward no.47 and 48 and engineers of UEED & Concerned contractor were also present during the tour of Hon’ble Mayor & Deputy mayor who tool stock of the ongoing construction work of the nallah in the said areas. They were apprised by the UEED that this nallah is being constructed in three parts in phased manners. First position of the nallah started from top of Bahu fort has already been completed while 95% of the work on second portion measuring about 200 mts with an allotted cost of RS 1.10 is going to be completed  which was delayed due to lockdown. And as per the direction of Hon’ble Mayor and on the demands of residents of the loaclity. DPR of Rs. 9 crore for 3rd portion for its connection to River Tawi has already been submitted to the Higher authorities for its immediate approval. Mayor told the gathering that this is one of the prestigious nallah of Jammu city and inhabitants residing in these localities were facing great hardships from the years together as in every rainy season, Dirty water overflows & even enters into residential area & causes great loss to the belongings of the poor citizens as they mostly belongs to below poverty line. Mayor and Deputy Mayor directed the concerned Engineers of UEED to expedite the construction work with quality material & upto the expectation of residents & complete it well before coming rainy season to give sigh of relief to them. Later Mayor alongwith Madam Neena Gupta Councilor of ward no.50 Sh Neeraj puri Gandhi Nagar mandal President/councilor of ward no.54 also kick started the further development /renovation of park known as Swami Vivekananda park situated at sec 3 of ward no.50 channi Himmat Jammu Prominent residents & some committee members of this park as well as concerned contractor were also present during this simple function. Mayor told that it was the long pending demands of the residents of this locality for proper renovation of this park which was in dilapidated condition and requires its immediate maintenance. Mayor told that this park will be developed with a well furnished Gate, colourful tiles at specified space, Beautiful benches for taking rest for morning /evening walkers, water Tanki with electric motor for water facility, LED lights to get rid from prevailing darkness and other required facilities. Mayor told that an amount of Rs. 5 lacs has been sanctioned for development of park in each Municipal ward. Moreover JMC has also undertaken the job of installation of LED street lights in collaboration with EESL company in all the 75 wards of Jammu city with an estimate cost of Rs. 75 crore which was only delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. He appealed to the committee members to maintain this Vivekananda park in proper condition when it will be completed as those parks where proper committee of nearby citizens has been framed and is playing a very vital role in keeping and maintaining those parks in good condition.

Mayor also inaugurated the Blood donation camp at Red Cross Bhawan BC Road near K.C Multi Cineplex being organized by Local Management of Daily leading Hindi newspaper Amar ujala  in collaboration with Red cross society Jammu and appreciated the initiatives & other efforts being taken by the said organizations for the welfare of mankind & downtrodden people in this crucial period of Novel coronav
