Ishfaq Jabbar meets Party General Secretary Haji Ali Mohammed Sagar, welcomes his release, demands release of other incarcerated leaders

 

SRINAGAR:National Conference (NC) senior leader and former MLA
from Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar on Wednesday called on party General Secretary and former Minister Haji Ali Mohammed Sagar who has been released after 10 months in detention at his residence.

Sheikh Ishfaq while welcoming Ali Mohd Sagar’s release, urged the government to release political leaders, activists and civil society members, detained arbitrarily after August 5, 2019.

In a statement issued here, Ishfaq said that quashing of PSA and subsequent release of Party General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar has brought respite to his family, supporters and followers.

While hailing the decision of honorable High Court, Jabbar demanded that all the political activists and leaders including former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Nasir Aslam Wani, Mohammad Shafi Uri, AR Rather, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzaan, Shameema Firdous, Mir Saifullah, Ali Muhammad Dar, Dr Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri, Irfan Shah, Aga Syed Mehmood, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Hilal Lone and scores of other politicians and activists continue to remain incarcerated at their respective homes, some at detention centers should be released to ease up the sufferings of people.

Mr Jabbar said that he enquired about the party general secretary’s well-being and discussed several issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the party, which has a legacy, history and a chequered track record, would continue to strive for the welfare of the people and shall continue to work for communal harmony, brotherhood, togetherness and keep the secular fabric of the state shining.
