The COVID-19 cases continued to rise unabated with 182 persons, including 108 from Kashmir and 74 from Jammu, testing positive for the disease on Friday, taking the total number of infected people in the Union Territory to 3324.Of the 182 new positive cases, 67, including four from Srinagar, are those, who have recently returned from outside J&K.Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 36 with a 65-year-old woman dying due to COVID-19 on Friday in the Union Territory, where 38 positive patients were discharged from hospitals, after being treated successfully.An official on Friday said that 108 more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir division, while 74 new cases were reported from Jammu. “Shopain recorded the highest number of 42 new COVID-19 cases, followed by Udhampur with 26 cases,” he said, adding that 22 people tested positive for the infection in Srinagar.
“Kupwara registered 13 new COVID-19 cases,” he said, adding that 12 people tested positive for the infection in Jammu.He said Ramban and Kathua recorded 11 new cases each, while nine persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Budgam. “Baramulla witnessed seven, while Anantnag registered six new cases,” he said, adding that five cases were reported from Doda and four cases each from Bandipora and Samba.
He said two new cases each were reported from Kulgam, Pulwama, Poonch and Rajouri. “Ganderbal and Reasi saw one case each,” he added
With 182 new cases, he said the total number of infected persons in J&K has risen to 3324. “Out of these, 2515 are in Kashmir and 809 are in Jammu,” he said.
The total active positive cases in the UT stood at 2202, including 1573 from Kashmir and 629 from Jammu.
He said 38 COVID-19 patients from J&K were discharged on Friday, after being treated successfully. ”As many as 1086 positive patients have been treated and discharged successfully so far,” he said.
Ten districts of Jammu have reported four fatalities while 32 people have lost their lived due to COVID-19 in ten districts of Kashmir.
COVID-19 has claimed nine lives in Srinagar, making it the worst affected district in terms of highest number of causality due to the disease followed Baramulla with seven fatalities. Anantnag stands at number three with five deaths and Kulgam at number four with four fatalities.
