Opposing privatization of power and imposing of unreasonable taxes of various kinds burdening the common people especially the transport sector besides taking several other arbitrary and unilateral decisions by the UT administration and Centre govt, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress committee has lashed out at the BJP for totally neglecting its responsibilities towards the common people and least bothered about the miseries of electorate, in the bureaucratic set up, as a ruling party at the Centre and and completely commanding the rule in UT.
Addressing a joint press conference at the congress Hq here today, senior leaders of the party Shri Raman Bhalla, Shri Mula Ram vice presidents PCC along with chief Spokesperson of the party Shri Ravinder Sharma besides Shri Yogesh Sawhney and Th Hari Singh Chib DCC Presidents and media secretary Neeraj Gupta, the senior Congress leaders questioned who is taking decisions and how decisions are being taken by the bureaucratic dispensation, as most decisions are anti people, anti youth and anti employees and there appears lack of adequate feedback from stake holders and absence of coordination between Centre and UT administration on various fronts leading to situation of chaos and confusion and unrest which forces the govt to take a turns and review of several decisions after peoples’ reactions from different quarters .
The Congress leaders charged BJP of taking the people for Jammu too, for granted and not only ignoring their genuine concerns and issues but giving heavy dose of taxes and financial burden apart from imposing arbitrary and unilateral decisions which are against their interests.
They said the people have no one to approach in the prevailing atmosphere created by the Centre government and the BJP, leaving them at the sole mercy of the bureaucratic dispensation, who are inaccessible to the common people while they don’t respond properly to the political class thus depriving the people any voice in the given situation.
They said BJP is squarely responsible for the neglect of the people and the prevailing atmosphere of helplessness of the common people who find no one to hear them except protests which too are crushed and not allowed under the garb of law and order and now under covid crisis.
Sympathizing with the people of different sections of the society who are suffering from the the decisions of the govt, the senior leaders raised the issues of different sections like transporters, privatization of power, issue of treating PRC as domicile certificates, mismanagement on the covid front and financial package to different sectors besides the harassment to the shopkeepers and people over total restrictions over parking in the city and other issues of youth and students.
Former minister Raman Bhalla raised the issue of transport sector, who are already under great distress due to economic slow down for the last over one year or more but have been the victim of heavy taxes on registration and renewal besides the heavy toll duties and other related problems. Instead of coming to their rescue the govt has forced them to come on roads. He sought immediate review of the the transport scenario and extending all sorts of help to them without unreasonable burdening the common people. The party extended full support to their demands and issues.
Shri Bhalla also charged the UT administration and Centre government of totally unsympathetic to the labourers and other poor people who were worst effected during current lockdown both physically, mentally and financially. Still there is mismanagement and arbitrariness in any ways in dealing with covid situations. He sought streamline of the system to give better deal to every suffering sections and others in this time.
Shri Mula Ram, former power minister, criticized the move to privatize the power sector which will heavily burden the common man and destroy the future and working conditions of the power employees of different categories but no one hears to the people. The arbitrary decision will prove very harsh to common people especially due to creating of UT for which BJP has to answer to the people.
Shri Yogesh Sawhney raised the Isse of harsh and unilateral decisions of total ban on parking in the old city area causing great hardships to the people especially the traders and customers. He said the administration should have talked to the bazaar associations and found out reasonable solutions of parking system but the decisions are imposed and BJP which claims to be the champion of the people of Jammu, is mum and enjoying the hardships of the people.
The party also questioned the decision to line up all State subjects holding valid PRCs to get the domicile in this covid crisis where as by no standards Domicile certificate is superior or PRC. The government should Atleast order that all PRCs shall be treated as domicile certificates to avoid undue harassment to the youth and common people.
The party also criticsed the govt for ignoring the demand of revocation of SRO 202 which is anti youth and the cause of exploitation. Similarly the demand of students for mass promotion to next classes should be considered sympathically.
The leaders also impressed upon the UT administration to take the stake holders of every class on board besides the political class of different shades while taking various decisions of larger public importance and interests to avoid confusion and confrontation and forcing the affected sections and opposition to come on roads to protest the unjust and unreasonable decisions. The party would launch sustained campaign and come on streets in the support of public issues, after some improvements in covid situations but took a dig at BJP that their leaders are least caring for the social distancing norms of the govt and norms are for the common people and opposition they quipped.
