Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&KExecutive Member, Raman Suri, today said that this is for the first time in 70 years that a new history will be written when Indian Army will be having its own land in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, Indian Army used to take land on lease or rent and set up its units, which was not only unfortunate but against the very ethics also.
Raman Suri said that the Indian army always defended borders and sacrificed lives for the motherland but wrong and ill-conceived laws didn’t allow them to own even an inch of land here in J&K. Those black and discriminatory laws are gone now and it’s a matter of pride that the Indian Army will be the first to own land in the UT of J&K and will keep buying more.
He said that recently, Indian Army requisitioned for 129 Kanal land. Earlier, it used to get land on Patta/lease or rent, but the fresh move will enable Ordinance Unit of 19 Infantry Division to become the first to own land in North Kashmir’s TapparPattan. This, Raman Suri added, will set a new trend, following which more and more industrialists, business houses, paramilitary forces will buy land in J&K and establish their units.
Raman Suri added that simultaneously, the domicile certificate has enabled those staying in J&K for considerable time to not only buy the land but also apply for government jobs. The abrogation of Article 370 and extension of all central laws to the UT of J&K has enabled this part of country also to enjoy the rights and privileges that people in other parts of country have.
This is what has led to complete integration of J&K with India. Raman Suri said, with army buying land, the organisations like banks, insurance companies, PSUs, private business houses and individuals will now flood J&K and create a better infrastructure, which in turn will create employment and help bring prosperity here.
