‘Darbar Move’ should continue, Ishfaq Jabbar demands immediate shifting of Darbar Move to Srinagar.

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Senior Leader and Former Member of Legislative Assembly from Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar today urged Central and Governor Administration for immediate shifting of all Darbar offices to Srinagar.

In a statement issued here the former MLA expressed his deep anguish and concern over the unnecessary delay in shifting of Darbar from Jammu to Srinagar.

Ishfaq said that discontinuing the Darbar Move would increase the gap between the two regions and  the concept behind the move has been to help and make strong cultural contacts among various sections of the people of J&K and a practice that helps to foster unity and integrity between the culturally diverse regions.

Ishfaq said that the temporary deferment of the scheduled annual shifting of Darbar from Jammu to Srinagar is understandable because of the COVID crisis, but delaying it further shall mean depriving people of Kashmir of their right to effective governance.

Mr Jabbar relates the Darbar Move to the pride of the people of J&K and the need of the hour is to augment the intra-regional connections and make them more stronger.

He said that delay in Darbar Move to Srinagar has not only incremented the psychological gap between the people of two regions but has also added to the woes of people of Kashmir who feel deserted by the present dispensation.

He said that the people of Kashmir presently feel neglected in absence of the functioning government at Rajbhawan and the civil secretariat in Srinagar.

Ishfaq further said that as the unlock 1 has been started by the Government and the Govt departments have been directed to increase attendance and the people across the world have to live with COVID-19 and the pandemic is a reality that we all have to live with and face it with preventive measures. Therefore halting the Civil Secretariat at Jammu with its employees working on ‘as is where is’ basis should be thoroughly reviewed immediately.

Mr Jabbar has appealed the MHA & LG G.C Murmu to take an immediate call on this important issue and order shifting of Darbar including his own office to Srinagar without any further delay, Jabbar opined.
