Much awaited Anti-Narcotics Task Force will end drug abuse in J&K: Raman Suri 

“Menace of drug abuse has not only costed Jammu and Kashmir many precious lives but also spoiled several families, whose youngsters got addicted to drugs coming from across the borders. This menace had gripped boys and girls from very good families as well.Many of them were even undergoing rehabilitation in drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre”.

 

This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri, who said, “Now that the Union Territory Government has decided to set up Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) to deal with the menace of drugs and drug peddlers in Jammu and Kashmir,it is going to end this menace once and for all. He said that though the decision has come late yet it is worth implementing in its letter and spirit.

 

Raman Suri said, with over one hundred police personnel designated as Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), days of drug smugglers are numbered. Officers of the rank of SSP, two DySPs, nine Inspectors, eighteen Sub Inspectors, eighteen Assistant Sub Inspectors and 52 Selection Grade/Constables will form a great force to deal with drug peddlers.

 

Raman Suri lauded the efforts of Director General of Police J&K, Dilbag Singh, for creating such a vibrant force and dedicating their services solely to end the menace of drug abuse. He said Jammu and Kashmir was never into drug abuse but over a decade this menace has increased manifold. He also lauded the efforts of several NGOs, working towards ending drug abuse and helping addicts come to mainstream.
