“Students belonging to Jammu and Kashmir staying in boys and girls hostels of the Jamia Millia Islamia, JMI today left for their homes by a special bus arranged by the university. Two university guards (Ex-Army men) are also accompanying students on the bus. These students were stranded in hostels due to sudden lockdown and could not go to their homes,” read an official statement released by the University.

The notice further stated, “The bus was properly sanitised by the university administration in the campus before leaving for Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University for medical screening of students, guards and drivers for fever and other symptoms related to coronavirus. JMI teachers were present there too for facilitation.

The students were also provided with food and water facilities on the bus while commuting their way back. “On the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor and Professor Najma Akhtar students were provided with water, food packets, hand sanitiser and masks,” the varsity informed.

The hostellers also wrote to the Vice-Chancellor that it would be a task for them to vacate the hostels with all their belongings this time. They had asked the administration to reconsider their decision but the varsity made special arrangements for the students. They were sent with whatever they could carry.

Jamia will be conducting the offline examination for final semester in July 2020 as per the official notice released by the university. This would be done provided the situation is conducive and lockdown is not extended further due to pandemic.
