Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on Friday strongly condemned ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Krishna Ghati, Shahpur, Kirni, and Qasba sectors of Poonch. Former Minister visited Government Medical College Hospital Jammu to enquire about the condition of injured in the cross-border firing and demanded the concerned officials to ensure best medicare to the victim. He also interacted with the injured patient and his attendants and urged Hospital Administration that best medical facilities should be provided to him. He was accompanied by JKPCC Chief Spokesman Ravinder Sharma. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of property in exchange of heavy firing on LoC. He  also hit out at Central Govt for its weak Foreign Policy, resulting in escalation of tensions on borders causing heavy damages to properties. He asked the authorities to ensure the safety of border residents and make all contingency arrangements to deal with the situations. He also demanded befitting response to the Pakistan for unprovoked firing especially in civilian areas.

Bhalla alleged that desperate Pakistan is trying to divert the attention of its people from the international problem and is resorting to ceasefire violations and un-Islamic acts of targeting innocent civilians. He said that frustrated Pakistan is resorting to ceasefire violations and targeting innocent people living in this side of the border, just to divert the attention of its people from the basic issues. Pakistan is facing internal crisis and has miserably failed to tackle it, Bhalla maintained.

Firing salvo on the Centre for rise in terror attacks in J&K and ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the border areas, Bhalla said that Governments have failed to control these incidents. He said the incidents of terrorism and ceasefire violations along the International border and LoC by Pakistan have increased manifold in the recent months.“A number of militancy related incidents have taken place in the past several months with reports of fresh recruitment of youth in the militant ranks which is a matter of great concern,” Bhalla said, adding that, the Government has failed to take necessary measures and provide adequate relief to the victims of firing in Poonch sector. He said atmosphere of peace and tranquility has been vitiated which was achieved after great struggle and sacrifices of the people and a security forces.

Former Minister, expressed grave concern over the rise of incidents of ceasefire violation on border causing deaths and destruction. He came  down heavily on Union Government in Centre alleging that  the  Government has completely failed to defend  the life and property of the people living on border. He appealed the Government to take all necessary measures for safety of the people. He said that the residents of Poonch border areas continue to suffer for the past few days and hence Central and J&K Governments must take steps for their rehabilitation and compensation. He asked the Government of India to formulate a comprehensive policy for the border dwellers so that they do not suffer during ceasefire violations by the Pakistan. He appealed the Government to make a relief package for the victim families so that adequate compensation may be instantly given without any delay.

Bhalla condemned the Pakistan for the continued misadventure and mischiefs on the LoC, causing the heavy loss of property ,to our soldiers and border residents while breaking all past records of ceasefire violations of last 16 years. Bhalla questioned the BJP and Modi Government for its failure to prevent and control Pakistan from indulging in regular mischiefs on borders by resorting to regular ceasefire violations. He sought immediate befitting response to such misadventures by Pakistan.

Bhalla expressed deep sympathies of party with the families of martyred and injured and full solidarity with the Armed forces who are sacrificing their lives to defeat the proxy war of Pakistan. ” We are proud of our brave forces and soldiers, who are always ready and capable enough to defeat the designs of enemy and to carry out any assignment and duty towards of the country but our forces are disciplined to follow the orders of the duly elected Government in the democratic system on the issue of PoJK,” Bhalla said.” PoJK is our integral part but under illegal occupation of Pakistan for which there is unanimous resolution of Parliament during Narashimha Rao Government and now it is for the present government to decide the future course of action, to take back our territory,” he maintained.

Above 3,200 ceasefire violations were initiated by the Pakistani troops in 2019. As the resumption of such unprovoked firings hover over the LoC, fear has heightened amidst the villagers along the districts in LoC. “I appeal for ending the bloodshed of innocent people residing near the borders so that lives of innocent civilians, including women and children who are under virtual siege from the past two months, are safeguarded,” Bhalla said.He expressed solidarity with the terrified people and said Congress shares their agony and grief. He also sought formulation of a contingency plan to meet the challenges unfolded by border shelling besides keeping available mobile medical teams for timely assistance to the suffering people. He expressed concern over delays generally being caused in shifting the injured to hospitals.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravinder Sharma  assailed the BJP led NDA at the Centre and J&K Govt in J&K for their insensitivity towards the suffering border dwellers of Jammu and Kashmir, saying ahead of elections they had created much hype but now they are nowhere to be seen.“People are getting killed but the Government is seen nowhere to take care of the sufferers”, he said, adding that such is the callousness of Govt that the targeted people are not even being provided timely medical assistance.Strongly condemning the Pakistan firing,  Ravinder Sharma expressed grave concern over the situation along the Indo-Pak border and LoC which has caused many innocent deaths besides injuries to several others, and loss of live stock,  crops and other property during the past over one year. He said that the situation has become grim in view of repeated incidents of shelling across the border targeting the civilian population. He said that an effective strategy should be adopted to put pressure on Pakistan to stop indulging in ceasefire violations and targeting the civilian population in J&K.
