On the eve of beginning of holy month of Ramzan, District Police Jamm along with Volunteers of Team Jammu on Friday evening distributed essential commodities to many people stranded at Jammu due to on-going lockdown.
SSP, Jammu, Shridhar Patil (IPS) along with Chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal and other volunteers, distributed ration and other items including dates to the those residents of the remotest areas of Doda, Kishtwar, and Reasi districts who have been stranded at Janipur and adjoining localities of Jammu city.
“Due to ongoing lockdown these people could not reach to their native places. Number of
people have been stranded at various places so we along with volunteers of Team Jammu and other organizations have decided to reach-out to them”, SSP, Jammu Shridhar Patil said.
“In view of the unprecedented situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected the livelihood of daily-wage earners in the state, a large section of Muslims, who have stranded at various places in Jammu, required timely assistance during the fasting month of Ramzan.
“In this backdrop, we have decided to distribute ration kits, comprising essential commodities (including rice), dates, milk and other items to the stranded people” said Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal and appealed to the people to stay home and adhere to health advisories announced by the government and in case of any emergent requirement, they can call on police and Health department’s helpline numbers.
SHO, Police Station, Janipur, Inspector Naresh Sharma, Er Chandan Datta, Sardar Pritpal Singh, Akshay Gupta and Surinder Sharma were also present on the occasion.
