A special train run by Indian Railways for the movement of Military personnel from Bengaluru to Jammu arrived today at Jammu Tawi Railway Station at its scheduled time of 05:00 hrs in the morning.
The train was transporting army personnel from various parts of South India – Bengaluru, Belgaun, Secunderabad etc carrying around 900 personnel to join back duty on the field after completing various courses.
The special train was received at Jammu station by Shri Chetan Taneja, IRTS, posted as Station Director, Railways, Jammu along with the Military Personnel. Adequate arrangements were made at the station by the Army and the Railway authorities to ensure that all the norms of social distancing were maintained at the station.
Complete sanitization of the Railway Station was ensured before the arrival of the train. Each personnel was thermal scanned to prevent any spread of the virus of Covid-19. All the personnel along with their luggage were also sanitized. Further, the Railway Station was again sanitized after the departure of the personnel from the station. Also, the driver, guard and railway staff escorting the train were screened by the Asst. Divisional Medical Officer, Railways, Jammu.
The Indian Railways and the Military Establishments have been actively involved in the fight against Covid-19. The Railways is running Freight trains as well as Parcel Cargo Express Trains for ensuring the provision of Essential commodities across the country. The Railways is also making Isolation Covid Care Coaches at the stations.
