DC Kathua inquires difficulties of labourers, needy people

To take account of condition of migrant and industrial labourers, slum dwellers, destitute and needy people of Kathua, Deputy Commissioner, O P Bhagat today inquired about the difficulties being faced by them during lockdown.

During the visit, DC found that the labour of Brick Kilns and other factories in Kathua were properly looked after by their proprietors and they have provided ration of 7 days in advance to their labourers.

The DC interacted with the labourers and asked them to remain in their home, maintain social distancing and keep the surroundings clean and hygienic. He also provided the contact number of various volunteers and self-help groups to the labourers. He asked them to call in case they face any difficulty in finding any essentials or medicine.

He also informed them that a 24X7 control room especially to deal with the situation is also functional in the district and they can call any time to seek help, prompt response.

He further advised them to co-operate with the administration by following the directions issued to break the chain of Covid-19 and make the lockdown a success.

Elaborating other initiatives of the district administration, DC said that home delivery of essentials and medicines through mobile call has been started and a team of dedicated officers is working round the clock to ensure the deliveries on time.

Similarly, the Quarantine Centers have been strengthened across the district by providing all the basic amenities to the inmates. Besides, health desk at every Quarantine Center, TV with dish connection, mobile laundry service, Sports and Music equipments were also provided to the inmates.

With regard to sanitation, Deputy Commissioner said that intensive sanitation drives are being carried out throughout the district by RDD and Municipalities to contain the spread of Corona virus infection.
