Due to complete lock down because of Corono Virus pandemic, a very few civilians other than the government employees are on road and performing their duties.
The drivers and crew members of the Oil tank and LPG truck are amongst a very few civilians who are also on the forefront who despite the risk to their own lives are tirelessly providing essentials to the government and at Petrol pumps and gas agencies but unfortunately, their services are not recognized both civil administration and the Public Sector companies have ignored these Covid warriors said S. Harasis Singh, the official spokesperson of All Jammu and Kashmir Oil and LPG Tank Truck Drivers, Cleaners while reiterating the demand of the union regarding providing safety kits to the drivers and the crew members of the tanks and trucks carrying petrol and LPG cylinders.
He said, the Oil companies are not even allowing the helper of the vehicle to enter the plant amidst the fear of Corono Virus and the drivers are finding it quite difficult to load the vehicles because even the labor is not availale in the depots and gas plants.
Harasis Singh informed that their union President S. Ranjit Singh Raina have urged the Oil Companies to provide safety kits like, masks, sanitizers and other gazettes to the drivers and crew and Union have also demanded providing insurance cover for the drivers and cleaner engaged in carrying essential items in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir Union territory despite all odds and non availability of food and water. He said even at many Naka Check Points these tank and truck drivers are made to wait for hours before clearance from higher officers of the police department and other civil officers as the IOCL, BPCL and HPCL companies have not arranged any special movement passes for them . Though most Police officers cooperate with them as they carry essential items but some stubborn men in uniform do not agree and then confront with the innocent drivers.
