As a precautionary measure aimed at preventing spread of the coronavirus infection the District Magistrate, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has ordered imposition of restrictions across Srinagar up to March 31.
The order directs that all kinds of business establishments will remain closed and bans all kinds of assembly of more than 3 persons from 8 pm tonight to 6 pm on March 31.
The order states that essential services as notified vide J&K government order number 60-FCS&CA of 2020 dated 22.03.2020 will be exempted from the restrictions.
Government officials of essential services departments and those assigned on duties related to efforts for containment of spread of coronavirus infection are also exempted from the restrictions.
Print and electronic media organisations including FM radio stations and cremations and funerals will also be exempted.
Concerned agencies have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of restrictions as ordered across the district.
The order issued under Section 144 of CrPC states that the decision to impose restrictions has been taken as a preventive measure and is aimed at preventing spread of the coronavirus infection.
Dr Shahid appealed to the general public to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherence to the order. He said violation of the order would constitute criminal offence and attract strict action under Section 188 of IPC.
He said the district administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted provision and supply and delivery of essential services to the public. He also said that a proper grievance redressal mechanism is in place to ensure quick redress of concerns.
