Jammu and Kashmir BJP on Thursday postponed its forthcoming ambitious ‘Public Darbar’ programme meant to enable the government to reach masses by conducting meetings at every Mandal.
Public Darbars, scheduled to be initiated from March 15 to 22 at every single Mandal throughout the region of Jammu, were to be addressed by MPs, former Ministers, former MLAs, former MLCs and senior leaders of the party. The development has been made in view of the fast and unrelenting spread of coronavirus and recent find of new positive cases in the union territory.
J&K BJP General Secretary and Former Minister Sunil Sharma, accompanied by J&K BJP General Secretaries Vibodh Gupta (former MLC) and Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal (former minister) here told media that in wake of the present circumstances, Bharatiya Janta Party has decided to keep a hold on all its public programmes till the situation improves and the spread of the virus is checked.
He said, “for the decision, advice issued by various health agencies at the level of UT as well as the National level have been taken into consideration”.
He also mentioned that recently World Health Organization has declared it as Pandemic as it has been spreading in multiple countries around the world at the same time at the alarming level.
