Shri Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Hon’ble Lt. Governor J&K and Director General of Police, J&K Shri Dilbag Singh today visited South Kashmir’s Anantnag District wherein they jointly reviewed the security scenario of South Kashmir at an officers meeting in DPO Anantnag.
Accompanied by IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, the Advisor and DGP were presented Guard of Honour on their arrival at District Police Lines Anantnag.
The meeting was attended by DIG South Kashmir, Shri Atul Goel, SSP Anantnag Shri Sh. Sandeep Choudhary, SSP Awantipora Shri Tahir Saleem Khan, SSP Pulwama, Shri Ashish Kumar Mishra, SSP Kulgam, Shri Gurinderpal Singh, SSP Shopian, Shri Amritpal Singh, Commandants of CRPF posted in South Kashmir and all the SDPOs of District Anantnag.
Advisor Bhatnagar reiterated the vital importance of maintaining a close watch on the inimical elements. He stressed the need to maintain real-time coordination between the different Security Force agencies. He appreciated Jammu and Kashmir Police and other forces in maintaining peace and stability in the South Kashmir. The advisor asked the officers to enhance their investigation skills on modern lines and also laid stress on the preventive measures to minimize the crime rate.
The DGP while addressing the meeting complimented the J&K Police personnel, security forces, intelligence agencies for achieving highest degree of synergy and coordination and efficiently handling the internal security situation in South Kashmir. He stated that there is a need to be more vigilant and cautious in view of the possibility of terrorists attempting to disrupt the existing peace in J&K saying that continuous attempts are being made by elements across the border to create trouble here.
The DGP said that J&K Police along with other security forces have been achieving good results in recent times and added that we need to continue our good work with enhanced coordination to defeat the ill designs of the elements bent to disrupt peace and tranquility in Jammu and Kashmir.
The DGP directed the officers to deal efficiently against the social crime including drug trafficking, crime against women and children and other heinous crime and keep all types of crimes under check. The DGP said special attention be paid to quality investigation of heinous crimes.
On the occasion, the DGP also asked officers to remain prepared for the upcoming Amar Nath Yatra and directed them to submit the requirements to Police headquarters so as smooth conduct of Yatra is ensured.
District Superintendents of Police, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, Awantipora and Anantnag briefed on the crime, law and order and other security scenario of the South Kashmir. They said that Police has increased the disposal rate in the crime cases and strict action against the drug peddlers and other criminals is being taken. They said that Police public meeting are being regularly conducted to strengthen the police public relations.
The Jurisdictional officers of South Kashmir gave a detailed overview about the security scenario of South Kashmir, enunciating the security measures initiated for ensuring peace and tranquility in South Kashmir. The officers also briefed about the various other security initiatives that have been taken up in order to strengthen the security grid.
