Police on Friday arrested four Over Ground Workers (OGWs), including one from Jash-e-Mohammad (JeM), and recovered arms and ammunition from them in Kashmir valley.
With these arrests, about 45 OGWs have been arrested by security forces in Kashmir valley since January 2020
A senior police officer told UNI that following specific information, a checkpoint was established at Khansahib in Budgam. “A person identified as Saqib Ahmad Lone was intercepted at the checkpoint and during his checking police recovered incriminating material from his possession.
“As per police records, Lone is involved in assisting the active of proscribed outfit JeM operating in the areas of Khansahib,” he said.
“The accused is involved in providing logistic support, shelter to JeM militants operating in the area,” he said.
“A case under relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Khansahib and further investigation in the matter is in progress. Incriminating materials recovered from his possession have been taken into records to probe his complicity in ‘terror’ crimes,” he added.
In another incident, following inputs, security forces arrested three OGWs of militants from Heff area in south Kashmir district of Shopian. “The accused have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad, Shabir Ahmad and Bilal Ahmad,” official sources said.
They said arms and ammunition, including one pistol, were recovered from the accused.
