Former minister and s BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma on Saturday sought fast-tracking of recruitment process for all vacant posts in government departments to provide relief to unemployed educated youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing the monthly meeting of BJP workers at Akhnoor, Mr Sharma observed, “Due to prevailing confusion, there have been some doubts in the minds of educated youth regarding domicile law which need to be cleared. The recruiting agencies should also fast-track recruitment processes for various government jobs”.
“The unemployed educated youth are anxiously waiting for the acceleration of recruitment process which has slowed down due to prevailing situation,” the BJP leader said.
The BJP leader described the unemployment among educated youth has a major challenge for the government and said that it needs to be looked into seriously without any delay.
“The educated youth are desperately looking for a solution to this problem. It is the high time that the government should immediately start fast-track selection processes for various jobs in gazetted and non-gazetted categories to provide a much-needed relief to educated youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mr Sharma said.
The BJP leader also called for strengthening of grassroots level democracy by fully empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). “It was a welcome step that the government has placed the newly elected chairpersons of block development council (BDC), the second-tier of PRIs in J&K, at par with the Deputy Commissioners, with an aim to empower the people at the grassroots level but it is unfortunate that the government officials are yet to cooperate with the BDC chairpersons and accord them their due status,” he added.
“The strengthening of PRIs would empower the people at grassroots level in real sense. The government should immediately look into the concerns of BDC chairpersons and the officers be directed to accord due respect to BDC chairpersons,” Mr Sharma said.
Earlier, Mr Sharma said the recent changes made in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh would be of immense benefit to all the regions.
“It would enable the people to access and enjoy the same rights, privileges and facilities as their fellow citizens in the rest of the country. These include progressive, egalitarian laws, right to education, reservation in education and employment for deprived communities and justice for daughters. The Articles 370 and 35A were responsible for J&K’s backwardness, while only benefiting a select few like the separatists and their associates,” the BJP leader said.
After conclusion of meeting, rich tributes were paid by the workers to Ex Sarpanch Lt Sh Krishan Lal Bhagat and a two minute silence was also observed to mark respect to the departed soul.
