Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Executive Member Raman Suri today urged the Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, G C Murmu to replicate the decision of Union Government in simplifying the life certificate submission process by pensioners here as well. He said that pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir also face great hardships in submitting life certificates every year and that even results in stoppage of their pensions.
Urging the Government to make it easier for pensioners to submit life certificates, Raman Suri said, to avoid discontinuation of pension due to pensioners’ inability to submit life certificate, the banks in Jammu and Kashmir must be asked to send multiple reminders to pensioners and for those who won’t respond, facility of doorstep service should be extended to facilitate the process.
Raman Suri added that quite a large number of pensioners are not able to submit their life certificate by the stipulated date every year which results in stopping of their pensions. Discontinuation of monthly pension causes great inconveniences to many. Thus, Government must come out with scheme to offer doorstep facility for checking credentials of all pensioners.
Raman Suri said Jammu and Kashmir has a good number of pensioners who, every year, are asked to submit life certificates attested by Gazetted Officer or appear in person. This is quite troublesome for many and to simplify this process, Government must send bankers at doorsteps of pensioners so that pensions of aged and infirm don’t get discontinued.
