Giriraj Singh calls for tapping of livestock potential in JK, assures full central support in promotion of the progressive sector

Union Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Giriraj Singh today said that the Central Government will make concerted efforts to tap the huge potential  for live stock development in Jammu and Kashmir with special focus on increasing wool production in Kashmir valley and potential areas of Jammu region.

“Livestock development has huge employment potential and people here are traditionally associated with it; the need is  to introduce scientific techniques for multiplying the livestock and its production,” he said, while  interacting with several Block Development Council chairpersons, Panchs and Sarpanchs here at the State Guest House.

 The Union Minister asked for introducing biofloc technique in fish rearing in Jammu and promoting merino sheep wool production in Kashmir valley and parts of Jammu region having suitable climate for the exotic species.

The interaction was also attended by Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry, Asgar Hassan Samoon; Secretary Rural Development Department & Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda and senior officers of Fisheries, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry Departments.
