As a sequel to Center government’s public outreach programme, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, today visited Ramban district and inaugurated Power Receiving Station, Chanderkote, Fruit and Vegetable Market Batote.
Union Minister, while addressing a mammoth gathering at Batote, highlighted the significance of various centrally sponsored schemes in raising the living standard of under privileged segments of the society.
Commissioner Secretary Labour and Employment, Sourabh Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan, SSP, Anita Sharma, Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Imam Din, SE, STD, CEO, JKBOCWWB, Muzaffar Ahmd Peer, ADDC, ADC and senior officers of various departments, Presidents of MCs, BDC Chairpersons, PRIs and general masses were present on the occasion.
Union Minister said that government is launching several reformatory and historic steps towards overall development of Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir. He sought public cooperation in effective implementation of such innovative schemes as people’s participation is imperative on this account.
Union Minster also inaugurated Fruit and Vegetable Mandi (Market) at Batote established by Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department on 17 Kanal land with an expenditure of over Rs. 2.58 crore. The Mandi will accommodate about 30 shopkeepers besides benefitting hundreds of farmers families of catchment area of Batote.
Later, he inaugurated 6.3 MVA, 33/11KV Power Receiving Station at Chanderkote constructed by the Sub Transmission Division, Udhampur under Rural Electrification (RE) scheme with an expenditure of Rs. 2.75 crore. It would cover about 4200 households of 14 Panchayats of surrounding areas.
He distributed Labour Cards, ATM Credit Cards among the workers registered by the Labour department besides providing financial assistance to the beneficiaries under Education Financial Assistance scheme of Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).
