Former Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today kick-started pipe laying work at Rajiv Nagar in Gandhi Nagar constituency in the presence of the officials of the PHE Department.
While speaking on the occasion Randhawa said that the Rajiv Nagar being a slum area had faced political apathy since decades. He said that there is acute shortage of drinking water supply due to defunct pipe network. He said that the matter was taken up with the PHE Department and today pipe laying work has been started. He said that the new pipe network would cater needs of hundreds of houses who were either forced to purchase drinking water or they have to go to other places to fetch water.
He further said that those who were elected twice from Gandhi Nagar have miserably failed to provide basic amenities to the people as Rajiv Nagar is suburban of Jammu and is just few kilometers away from the heart of the city.
He assured the people that the BJP Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to provide all basic amenities to its citizens and all other demands of the people of the area would be fulfilled soon. He also directed the PHE authorities to check all vulnerable areas which are without PHE supply and ensure that they get supply and connections at earliest. He said that water is the basic necessity of life and the government is beholden to provide clean drinking water to its citizens. He also appealed to the residents to use drinking water judiciously.
Those who were present on the occasion include Dalbir Singh, Subash Chander, Vikas Patyal, Amit Gupta, Ashok Kumar, Dr. Davinder Singh, Asha Rani, Suraj Rana.
