Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today chaired a meeting here to review power scenario in the Kashmir Valley.
MD JKPDCL Mohammad Aijaz, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers & Exens of JKPDCL, Assistant Commissioner (Central) with Divisional Commissioner and other concerned officers attended the meeting. Deputy Commissioners of all the valley districts participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held regarding power schedule, buffer stock of transformers, replacement of wooden poles, clearing of pending liabilities to private entrepreneurs, progress of DDUGJY, SAUBHAGYA electricity schemes and other related issues.
On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner obtained a detailed feedback from all the Deputy Commissioners and other concerned officers regarding implementation of various schemes to improve power scenario and augmentation of transmission infrastructure.
He also directed Power Development Department authorities to launch vigorous drive to check power theft and illegal connections and initiate stern action against culprits as per the law. He instructed district administrations to provide required support to the Department in this regard.
With regard to augmentation of the power infra, Divisional Commissioner directed concerned to release funds to the DCs and PDD for replacement of all wooden poles across Kashmir Division at an earliest. It was informed that Rs 40 crore stands earmarked for the replacement of wooden poles.
While reviewing progress of DDUGJY and SAUBHAGYA electricity schemes, the Divisional Commissioner stressed on PDD to achieve tangible results in power sector so that consumers receive uninterrupted electricity supply.
