Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Gurvinderjeet Singh today convened a meeting with senior officers of concerned departments to discuss the arrangements for celebration of 10th National Voter’s Day to be observed on 25th of January 2020, with the theme of ”Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy”, at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.
Threadbare discussion was held on various arrangements which included Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll 2019, Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF), rationalization of polling stations, Changes of BLOs, Common Service Centres, Chunav Pathshala/ELC etc.
Deputy DEO Dr. Kusum Chib informed the meeting that different activities like skits, debates on NVD will be organized by different educational institutions across the district. She said that special programme for PWDs and aged voters to be planned by District Social Welfare Department.
It was decided in the meeting that a main function would be held at Town Hall wherein District Election Officer would hand over the EPICs to the new electors registered in the electoral roll.
ADC asked all the principals to submit the list of students and activities to be performed on voter awareness. Principals were also asked to pass necessary instructions to the concerned for designing play cards, banners to be displayed by the students during the rally.
ADC stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure participation of general public, sarpanches, panches, prominent citizens and students in the NVD function and would also be made aware about their right to vote and importance of voting and democratic system.
ADC asked all the ERO/AEROs to monitor Chunav Pathshalas in all the polling stations besides this CEO was asked to identify the convener/ nodal officers for establishing ELCs in schools.
It was also decided in the meeting that awareness rallies, competitions, debates, painting, quiz, slogan writing would be organized by involving college and school students at district, subdivision as well as tehsil levels by the concerned officers to spread awareness regarding right to vote among the voters. All the concerned officers were also directed to publicize the event by putting hoardings and banners regarding National voter’s day in their respective areas.
ADC exhorted upon the concerned officers to put in coordinated efforts for the successful conduct of the National Voter’s Day celebration in the district.
