A 28-year-old man was killed and three injured when a tata sumo passenger vehicle bearing registration number JK18-2231 skidded off the road and fell into a gorge along the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Ramban district on Wednesday, an official said.
The accident took place near Sherbibi when the driver lost control of the vehicle and plunged into Bishlari Nallah, he said.
He said the rescuers immediately swung into action and recovered the body of Abdul Majeed Bhat, a resident of Ukhral-Ramban.
He identified the injured persons as Manzoor Ahmed (driver) age 29 yrs son of Ghulam Rasool Rashi a resident of Phulo Kulgam, Mohammad Yusef 37, son of Ahmidoo Bhata resident of Senabathi Ukhral and Naseer Ahmed 32 son of Ghulam Nabi a resident of Shangus, Anantnag.
All injured have been shifted to SDH Banihal for treatment where from two of them were later referred to a hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment, said police
While confirming the news, Police wrote on Twitter, “Today morning, one Tata Sumo No. JK18-2231 which was on its way from Ramban to Banihal rolled down into a deep gorge,at Wagan, resulting in on spot death of Abdul Majeed age about 25 yrs S/o Mohd Afzal R/o Ukhral & injuries to 03.”
